The chart above (CHANGE) shows improvement in clients over the course of therapy. 67% of clients have moved from being in a clinical population (significantly more distressed than someone in the general population) to a non-clinical population, and this change was statistically significant (not likely to have happened by chance). Basically, 67% of clients felt significantly less distressed at the end of counselling compared to the beginning. Another 7% moved from being in a clinical population to a non-clinical population, although this change was not statistically significant. So in total, 73% of clients moved from being significantly distressed before counselling to feeling OK after. 7% of clients began counselling in the normal population (they were not significantly distressed), and ended counselling feeling roughly the same. 13% of clients improved significantly during counselling, but ended while still more distressed than the general population. 1 client (7%) began and ended counselling more distressed than the general population.
So, 93% of clients felt less distressed as a result of counselling. The majority of these clients had significant improvement.
We will continue to monitor these findings, and information will become more accurate as findings from longer-term therapy become available.
