America has a different system for the provision of counselling which will means some of this book does not translate very well. However, most of the book Is relevant to anyone looking for counselling. Counselling for Toads Routledge 1997, an imprint of Taylor & Francis Books Ltd ISBN: 0415174295 COMMENTS – This easy-to-read book explains a bit about Transactional Analysis counselling through the characters from Wind in the Willows. Toad is depressed and seeks the help of a counsellor (Heron). As the counselling progresses we get to understand a bit more about Transactional Analysis and how it works. It is accessible and very much geared towards practitioners increasing their knowledge and confidence. Counseling Gay Men and Lesbians - a Practice Primer Brooks / Cole 2002 ISBN 0-534-55084-3 Sexual Orientation : Social and Cultural Context COMMENTS : A basic introduction to working with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender clients written primarily for an American audience. It may be more useful to read general texts on counselling couples and make sure you feel knowledgeable and comfortable working with LGBT people. COMMENTS : Written by a gay psychoanalyst, this book examines gay men from a psychoanalytic / psychodynamic perspective. Looks at non-pathologising ways to apply Freudian developmental theory to gay men.
