Bondage

Some people enjoy being restricted in some way as part of sex.  That can range from being held in a grip or under foot, to custom made suits, which the air is sucked out of thus leaving the person in the suit completely immobile.  Sort of vacuum packing for people!

In between there are all manner of things that can be used to restrict movement; handcuffs, ropes, belts, duvets…if you can think if it you can probably use it.

For those who enjoy it, whether it is the being restricted or doing the restriction that is the great buzz.  Cool.  Go for it.  Think about a code or safe word in advance, which will allow you to say without confusion, STOP!

As with all types of sexual activity, if you are meeting up with someone who you don’t know, then it’s a good idea to tell a trusted friend where you are going and who with.

But how safe is it?

Bondage is very low risk in terms of HIV.

Whilst it’s very unlikely, for transmission to occur infected blood would have to transfer from one partner’s bloodstream to another’s. In other words, both partners would have to be bleeding and at least one of them would have to be HIV+.

There probably isn’t that much opportunity for this to happen in bondage - as with this kind of thing, it depends upon what you’re doing. One possible source of risk could be if ties are tied tightly enough to cause bleeding.

In any case bondage is very low risk, and the less possibility infected blood getting into someone else’s bloodstream, the safer bondage is.
