Direct involvement

This issue, in a large part, is all about direct involvement. Volunteering, open days, sport, research, women’s health events, your voice in the Scottish Executive’s Sexual Health Strategy - all require a little bit of effort. However, doing things becomes a bit less of an ‘effort’ when there’s a personal benefit to be had.
Every feature, article, or advert in here, asking for your involvement, is about helping yourself (okay, the photie-strip aside). Being a volunteer, attending events, contributing to research and voicing your opinion, aren’t the actions of some do-gooding, altruistic hippy - nothing against hippies, mind! It’s taking action where it matters to you. And if it helps others? - well, not a bad fringe benefit.
