LGBT women get it togetherThe LGBT Centre for Health & Wellbeing in Edinburgh and Café Sala
hosted an exciting load of events for lesbian, bisexual & transgender
women during January. An opportunity to stimulate our grey matter was provided by a discussion; “Where LBT women's health fits into the wider LGBT health agenda?”with presentations by Ali Jarvis, Stonewall Scotland and Susan Douglas-Scott, PHASE Scotland. The Lesbian Book Group, resident at the Centre, opened their meeting to new members. There was also the first meeting of a monthly Women's Discussion Group started with; “What does it mean to be an LBT woman in Scotland in 2004?”. Quiz and comedy nights at Café Sala, Broughton Street, ensured fun and laughs with prizes for Quiz Night generously donated by The Laughing Duck, Blue Moon, Planet Out and Habana. The winners on the night were The Book Group. In answer to demand, regular quiz and comedy nights are planned. The more serious purpose behind the January programme was to attract the widest range of LBT women to participate and then take part in a consultation process, which will inform the development of All Women. Women were asked to identify the main health issues, which concern them. The issues raised, which will be followed up, were:
