Complement Your Health

Health support and ongoing wellness can be there for you within complementary approaches to your health. Most complementary therapies can be utilised alongside conventional medicine whatever your state of health or lifestyle, having a positive effect on your body, mind, and emotions - helping to provide the feel good factor.

Access to complementary therapies for the LGBT community will soon be available at the LGBT Centre for Health & Wellbeing, Edinburgh. In early September, post-Festival, an exciting Open Day Event will launch a new Complementary Therapy Programme. The programme's coordinator is John Irving of Massage for Health, who has already contributed his experience of working within the LGBT community by helping plan the forthcoming programme and completing the therapists' preparatory training. Initial therapies will include; Massage Therapy, Reflexology, Indian Head Massage, Tibetan Medicine, Bi-Aura Therapy, Cranial-Sacral Therapy, Homoeopathy and the Alexander Technique. If you have any enquiries about these therapies or if there are any therapies you would like included in the future, contact John at [email protected]

While therapies will not be free, it's assured that all LGBT community members will have access regardless of capacity to pay. There will be a sliding scale dependant on income to encourage future sustainability for all to benefit equally from the programme.

Similar preparatory training and support as provided for the therapists will also be extended to those facilitating future Group activities such as Yoga, Tai Chi, Meditation, Belly Dancing, Massage, Macramé, Knitting…whatever! If you have an interest that you would like to share, get in touch, as there may be others with similar interests. Your hidden potential can encourage others too!

The exciting Open Day event in early September will give you the opportunity to experience taster sessions, presentations, have a chat 'n chill, make an initial booking and contemplate your health opportunities.

So after this years' post-Festival excesses you'll be able to express all your colour, rejuvenate, contemplate, and even initiate a whole new potential for your health and ongoing wellbeing.

If you've never experienced complementary therapies, this is definitely your chance to be supported in learning a whole lot more about empowering approaches to the feel good factor - your health, your wellbeing.

Core is a partnership project representing the LGBT community in Scotland. Views expressed are not necessarily those of the partners. However, if they're witty, intelligent and insightful - they probably are. If you flicked through this mag, saw a photie and made an assumption about someone's sexuality - then you're about ten years behind what we're trying to do here. Click the mag off and walk away. Accurate at going online time, but hey, we didn't get this sarky without making mistakes.
